9.0 SYSTEM
9.1 TRACK AND RAIL
Track and rail shall be designed to be attached on top of concrete floor and allow for leveling adjustment for uneven floor.
Track and rail shall be located and positioned in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, leveled and grouted allowing for a minimum of .5 inch of grout under the track and rail from the high spot in the floor. Completely fill void between the track and rail with a non-stick grout. Shimming of rails will not be acceptable. Each track and rail shall have a minimum width of 2-3/8 inches. All track and rail shall extend completely under all stationary ranges.
Track and rail shall be level not exceeding .0625-inch maximum variation from true level within any module and .0625-inch maximum variation between adjacent rails perpendicular to rail direction. The track and rail shall be a minimum of .0625-inch height and be constructed of solid 1008 steel. Each section of track and rail shall be a minimum of 118 inches with shorter length used only to terminate each individual rail assembly. In addition, each end of the track and rail shall be connected by means of twin stainless steel dowels pinned between the track and rail splice. The splice shall be connected by means of twin stainless steel dowels pinned between the track and rail splice. The splice shall be designed and sized for the most severe operating conditions. Connection joints shall demonstrate vertical and horizontal continuity and gradually transfer the concentrated wheel load to and from adjoining rail sections.
The grout used shall be a ready-mixed high strength; controlled expansive grout with superior dynamic load stability, which when mixed with water shall harden rapidly to produce a permanent foundation. Grout shall be non-corrosive, non-metallic and non-shrink. The grout after curing shall have a minimum strength of 8,000 pounds per square inch. Grout shall reduce rail deflection, maintain alignment and eliminate separation.
DECKING AND RAMP
Construct deck of minimum of .75-inch particleboard.
Finish flooring shall be flush and level with the top of the rails.
No open gaps will be permitted between the flooring and the track and rail.
The ramps shall be constructed and finished with the same material as the deck or manufactured from steel. Ramp shall not extend into the front access aisle and shall be contained completely within the system.
9.3 CARRIAGES
All carriages shall be welded steel construction capable of supporting a maximum of 1,000 pound per lineal foot without distorting in any manner. A 1,500-pound option of exact design and detail shall be furnished whenever the load requires. Either carriage shall function on the same track and rail with no dimensional differences required to facilitate either model.
Fixed carriages shall be of the same construction and height as the mobile carriages and anchored to the continuous track and rails located beneath the fixed carriages for a complete homogeneous system.
Carriage splices shall be bolted type designed to maintain proper unit alignment. Carriages shall be straight and square. There shall be no slippage, drag or windup in any splice of welded joint. Fasteners connecting any carriage splice joint shall be vibration proof in design.
Carriage construction shall be such to allow shelving to be securely anchored to each carriage with vibration proof fasteners. Each carriage shall have a two-wheel minimum per rail. Each wheel shall be fitted with two permanently sealed and lubricated bearings. Wheels with a single, center wheel bearing are not acceptable. Dynamic load rating on wheel bearings shall be a minimum of 4,440 pound per wheel.
9.4 WHEELS
Wheels shall be 5.625 inches effective diameter, precision ground and balanced and constructed of suitable material for smooth operation and housing the appropriate load rating for each carriage. Two-guide wheel are required for each guide track or rail. A minimum of two guide rails are required per carriage, a minimum of four guide wheels shall be incorporated into each carriage.
Drive shaft to be solid steel and a minimum of .75 inch. Drive shaft shall be a non-load-bearing member of the drive train for ease of locomotion and service. Couplers shall be securely pinned and/or doweled into place to eliminate any and all play or looseness in the drive mechanisms.
Bumpers shall be mounted to the carriage face to protect material that may extend beyond the shelf face and provide positive stop for all carriages without damage or displacement of either material or the carriages themselves.
9. 5 END PANEL OPTIONS
9.5.1 EURO-STYLE END PANELS
Shall be constructed of the following components:
Aluminum rounded corner uprights that extend from the bottom of the carriage frame to the top of the shelving. The aluminum corners shall be designed so that a decorative laminate will interconnect forming an aesthetically pleasing front assembly. High Pressure Laminate End Panel Insert that shall be constructed of high-density 3/8" particleboard covered by a vertical grade High Pressure Laminate (HPL) as manufactured by Wilsonart or Formica. Color or design shall be from the manufacturer's standard product .
9.5.2 STEEL END PANELS
Vertical internal uprights shall be a minimum of 16-gauge steel.
Cross members shall be a minimum of 13-gauge steel.
Decorative end panels shall be a minimum of 19-gauge steel and shall have no visible holes or seams on the face of sides of the panel (up to 48" wide x 102" tall).
Laminated end panels
Wood-Tek end panels
